Recognizing Dawn Hammerschmidt with Dragon Pride

We recognize Dawn Hammerschmidt, program director for the master’s in athletic training and professor in the Health & Human Performance Department, for creating a welcoming and supportive environment in the office and in the classroom.

Dawn’s colleagues have lifted her up as a person who “not only contributes professional experience, but embodies the core values of grit, humility and heart” as she “looks out for the best interest of each student”.

Sarah Milner says, “Dawn makes MSUM a better place and truly cares for the students at MSUM. She is highly motivated to be a great teacher, mentor, and advisor and to ensure student success.

I have witnessed her go the extra mile to ensure students get into the classes they need, graduate on time, and follow the right path for acceptance to graduate school.

She is friendly and approachable and visits with students and colleagues; she continuously checks in to see how they are doing in athletics, activities, or their personal lives. She is a team player who cares about her students, co-workers, and the future of the department.”

Thank you, Dawn, for all that you do!
