Dr. Caitlin Johnson Collaborates on free PD course offering with NWSC
Dr. Caitlin Johnson from the Department of Leadership & Learning collaborates on a professional development course with the Northwest Service Cooperative. The goal was to make information regarding teaching with Native American literature into a 1.5 CEU course in a self-paced, online platform, and offer it for free.
The Northwest Service Cooperative currently has over 3200 people enrolled statewide, and they would receive a direct email for this new course offering (in addition to our superintendents and principals in the region). Direct credit for this course offering goes to Northern Lights Library Network, Better Together Conference, and MSUM.
The hope of this project was to offer a free online professional development course designed to meet the MN teacher licensure renewal area of American Indian History and Culture, which is now required under new state legislation.
