Counseling Services offers variety of services for students but not medical services

Counseling Services offers free and confidential mental health, alcohol and drug, sexual assault, and violence counseling. However, Counseling Services (located in the Hendrix building) is not a medical provider; Lisa Kremer (lisa.kremer@mnstate.edu or 218.477.2631) is a case manager/navigator who will:

  • Work with you directly to understand your health insurance coverage or to acquire health insurance.
  • Assist you in finding the best provider options given your individual health insurance coverage plans.
  • Advocate for your healthcare needs.
  • Develop systems to improve the referral and appointment-making process for students seeking medical and mental health services in the community.

Medical services are not available at Counseling Services

Counseling Services staff cannot assist with even minor medical health concerns such as burns, bee stings, allergies, etc. Our case manager/navigator will direct you to the assistance you need. In case of immediate medical assistance, we may call public safety or an ambulance.

On the Advocacy and Community Resources webpage you will find information on:

  • Nearby medical clinics and pharmacies
  • Health insurance (domestic and international)
  • Flu shots
