Dr. Jean Marie Hellner to perform for the Twin Cities Chapter of the American Guild of Organists Members’ Recital

Dr. Jean Marie Hellner will perform an organ solo for the Twin Cities Chapter of the American Guild of Organists Members’ Recital. This recital will take place on Friday, May 12 at 7:00 p.m. at Normandale Lutheran Church in Edina, Minnesota. Dr. Hellner will perform Alfred V. Fedak’s Partita on “Built on the Rock”.

An active performer and scholar in the Fargo-Moorhead area, Dr. Hellner is the collaborative pianist and organist for the Minnesota State University Moorhead choirs where she also teaches music history during the 2022-2023 academic year.

Dr. Hellner holds degrees from the University of North Texas, The Florida State University, and Luther College. She studied organ with Peter Nygaard and piano with Rosario Marciano and John Strauss. While at North Texas, she played with the new music ensemble (NOVA) and centered much of her research on new music.

As a scholar-performer, Dr. Hellner has given numerous lecture recitals in the United States and Europe. She is also a community activist, being a co-founder of the Community Orchestra Academy and the Edvard Grieg Society of the Dakotas. She serves as treasurer and archivist for the Red River Theatre Organ Society.
