The student–faculty collaborative studies have been accepted for the 2023 THEREPS conference

The student–faculty collaborative studies have been accepted for presenting their studies at the 2023 THEREPS conference, a national tourism, hospitality and event conference.  Two MBA students are Christian Hustad and Rachel Schumacher, advised by Drs. Hyun Sang An (Assistant Professor of Marketing) and Wooyang Kim (Associate Professor of Marketing).  The 2023 TEHREPS conference will be held in Las Vegas, NV, on April 14-15, 2023.

The first study aims to establish the theory-based conceptual model of information overload applied by media richness theory in the pre-travel stage.  The study’s title is “Information overload and its negative subsequences when acquiring travel destination-related information in the pre-travel stage,” authored by Christian Hustad, Hyun Sang An, and Wooyang Kim.

The second study aims to understand the role of a framing effect on promotional pricing strategies for accommodation services online.  The study’s title is “Framing effect to Gen Zers on promotion strategies of online reservations of accommodations: Monetary promotion vs. non-monetary promotion,” authored by Rachel Schumacher, Hyun Sang An, and Wooyang Kim.

These two studies will be published as an extended abstract in the conference proceedings.  If anyone is interested in these studies, contact a corresponding author, Dr. Wooyang Kim (wooyang.kim@mnstate.edu).
