Record High Completion of Academic Progress Checks in Spring 2023
Academic Progress Checks are a snapshot of how students are doing in each of their classes and are requested of all faculty at weeks 5 and 10 each semester. This critical information allows MSUM staff to provide timely feedback to students and identify and assist those who are experiencing academic difficulties. In Spring 2023, over 27,000 individual progress checks were completed by instructors and the university achieved an outstanding overall completion percentage of 92.4%, exceeding our previous record completion rate. Three academic colleges, the College of Arts & Humanities, College of Education & Human Services, and College of Science, Health & the Environment, achieved an average progress check completion rate of 90% or higher, each earning an incentive of $1500 in scholarship funds to award to students within their academic college.
Additional details regarding academic progress check completion rates, as well as an assessment report detailing the effectiveness of this effort in predicting and improving retention, are available on the MSUM Enrollment Retention Efforts webpage (see Retention Planning & Initiatives).
