Ricot Aladin writes about his visit with President Blackhurst: “During our interview, Dr. Blackhurst shares her passion for the students, for their one-of-king humility, about her leadership style; although not everyone would agree with her decisions at times, colleagues can assert that she does not like to micromanage. At MSUM, the staff takes their work very seriously but also takes time to do fun things to create laughter among them. The thoughtful lessons she learns along the way; for instance, being a leader starts with being able to lead oneself, and things are not always as good or bad as you think they are to encourage young professionals to not give up on themselves. It was truly an honor to learn about her professional life.”
