Dr. Siwei Zhu’s mixed-method study has been accepted for publication in a widely recognized journal
Dr. Siwei Zhu, faculty from the Paseka School of Business, has conducted a mixed-method study with both qualitative and quantitative data with two talented scholars, Dr. Baris Morkan from New Jersey Institute of Technology and Dr. Zhipeng Yan from Stevens Institute of Technology. Their work has been accepted for publication in the journal called Knowledge and Process Management.
Their study, “Young Geniuses vs. Old Masters: Two Different Trajectories of Individual Knowledge Bases in the Innovation Process”, develops a conceptual framework and shows two different trajectories toward the innovation process: the negative impact of knowledge depth on early-stage knowledge combinations for Young Geniuses occurs extremely early; the diminishing return of knowledge breadth on late-stage commercialization for Old Masters occurs very late. The study demonstrates that inventors who better comprehend the timing of switching knowledge development can navigate the innovation process to achieve fruitful outcomes.
