Funeral for retired Sheriff Bill Bergquist will be on Aug. 15 at MSUM

Expect large law enforcement presence on campus and specifically around Nemzek

The funeral for retired Clay County Sheriff Bill Bergquist will be Monday, Aug. 15 at MSUM’s Nemzek Hall. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m., with the service beginning at 11 a.m. His wife Annie, who passed away this year, was a long-time MSUM employee. View obituary.

We expect many media outlets to attend and a significant law enforcement presence. Therefore, we ask that students and staff park as far west on campus as possible – G2 and G3 lots between 10th St. S.  and 11th St. S.

Here’s what you need to know for Monday, Aug. 15:

Roads
* 17th St. S. will be blocked beginning Sunday evening, Aug. 14. All vehicles should be removed from this street prior to Sunday evening.

Parking
* No parking on the north side of 9th Ave. from 19th St. S. to 14th St. S.
* No parking on the south side of 6th Ave. from 17th St. S. to 14th St. S.
* No access will be available to the maintenance building parking lot.
* Parking in front of Public Safety will be closed off.
* G4 lot on the northwest corner of campus (11th St. between 5th and 6th Ave S.) will be used for law enforcement vehicles between 9 and 10 a.m. It will be open after that time.
* F1 (by the soccer field) is reserved for student-athletes, coaches and Nemzek staff. Please use the eastside Nemzek entrance (football field entrance) and keep all activity to the east side of the building.
* G8 (northside of Nemzek) lot is reserved for family, special guests and handicap parking.

Traffic
Traffic delays and congestion are expected throughout the morning and up to when the procession starts around 1 p.m. The route will begin east on 6th Ave. S. to 20th St. S. to Riverside Cemetery in Moorhead.
