College for Kids & Teens Archaeology & Geoscience of a Ghost Town class uncovers history with MSUM Students
College for Kids & Teens participants in the Archeology & Geoscience of a Ghost Town course had the opportunity to join MSUM Anthropology & Geoscience faculty & students at a local, active archaeological site! The experience led by Dr. Amanda Butler & Karl Leonard provided a one of a kind experience to area high schoolers.
The students were active participants in the excavation and documentation process of locating one of the town’s old saloons. Working side-by-side with undergraduate archaeology majors, students carefully excavated and screened for artifacts, while mapping features of the town. Students learned how archaeology can reveal stories of the past.
