Three candidates selected as finalists for Associate Provost for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

I am pleased to announce the three final candidates for Associate Provost for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Each candidate will hold an open forum with a topical discussion on “Implementing DEI strategies across the University: Moving from a thing we do to how we do all things.”     

  • The date, time, and location for each candidate’s open forum is noted below. Each forum will be in person in CMU 105.  
  • If you cannot attend in person, we are offering a livestream option.
  • A question and answer session will follow the forum discussion. You will also have an opportunity to provide feedback through this Forms open forum survey.  
  • We greatly appreciate your participation in the search process.

Candidate Dr. Frank King’s public forum will be Monday, March 21 at 12 p.m. in Comstock Memorial Union room 105. 

Dr. Frank King Jr. is the Executive Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion/Special Assistant at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. King holds a Ph.D. in American Studies from Washington (Pullman) State University and a B.A. in History/Secondary Social Studies Education.

Candidate Dr. Luchara Wallace’s open forum will be Thursday, March 24 at 11 a.m. in Comstock Memorial Union room 105.

Dr. Luchara Wallace is the Director of Western Michigan University’s Lewis Walker Institute for Race and Ethnic Relations. Wallace holds a Ph.D. in Special Education from the University of Kansas School of Education in Lawrence. She earned her M.A. in Education-Special Education from Loyola University, Chicago, and a B.A. in Afro-American Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Candidate Dr. Joseph Flynn’s open forum will be held Monday, March 28 at 11 a.m. in Comstock Memorial Union room 105.

Dr. Joseph Flynn Jr. is the Associate Director of Academic Affairs for the Center for Black Studies at Northern Illinois University. Flynn holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum, Teaching, and Education Policy from Michigan State University in Lansing. He earned his M.A. in Curriculum Studies at DePaul University and a B.A. in Philosophy from Eastern Illinois University.
