Dr. Jan Fiola, retired Professor of Sociology, passes away

Jan Fiola, Professor of Sociology at MSUM from 1996 – 2010, passed away on May 15, 2021, after a long illness. Dr. Fiola taught a variety of courses including Dominant-Subordinate Group Relations, Introduction to Sociology, Latin American Issues, Population, Social Movements, and Urban Sociology. She also organized study abroad trips to Peru and Brazil. An obituary is attached.

Jill Holmstrom Awarded Nurse Educator Award

Dr. Jill Holmstrom, Associate Professor in the School of Nursing and Healthcare Leadership, was recently awarded the Nurse Educator in Higher Education: Innovation Award from the Nurse Educator in the Rockies Conference. Dependent Care Expense Account Maximum increased for 2021

Good news if you use dependent care! The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has increased the 2021 annual maximum for the Dependent Care Expense Accounts (DCEA) to $10,500 for families ($5,250 for married filing single).
