Innovation and Multi-Campus Collaboration Funding – Applications Now Accepted Through January 21

MinnState Educational Innovations has now opened up the funding grant application process for Innovation Grants and Multi-Campus Collaboration Grants. You may remember we had an on-campus presentation on October 19. You can watch a presentation on that same content HERE.

Minnesota State seeks to support student, faculty, and staff innovation that shows great potential for improving teaching, learning, and access for students across its 37 colleges and universities.

Funded projects will aim to address obstacles to student success by using existing technologies, resources, or practices in innovative ways. Projects that directly connect to or support the core principle, Minnesota State Equity 2030  are highly encouraged.

For the FY23 funding round, the Innovation and Multi-Campus Collaboration Funding rounds will open and close simultaneously – from November 15, 2021 to 4:00 p.m. on January 21, 2022.

All students*, faculty, and staff who are currently enrolled in or employed by a Minnesota State college or university are eligible to submit an application.

Large Seed Innovation Grants (Up to $25,000)

In the spirit of the television show “Shark Tank,” selected innovators who apply for a large seed innovation grant will be invited to compete for funding by pitching their innovative project to an “investor panel” (comprised of students, Minnesota State educators, business, and non-profit community members) at the 2022 Shark Tank Open.

This year, the Shark Tank Open is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, April 7, 2022. In preparation for the pitch, individuals or teams will complete an application packet for the panel to review in advance and will be offered presentation coaching to help them prepare for the pitch.

Small Seed Innovation Grants (Up to $10,000)

Innovators are also invited to apply for small seed innovation grants that focus on piloting, enhancing, or sustaining an innovation program. Those who apply for a small seed innovation grant will be part of a competitive proposal process instead of pitching their innovation at the Shark Tank Open.
