Dean of the College of Science, Health & the Environment open forum schedule

Two finalists have been selected for the Dean of the College of Science, Health & the Environment. Interviews will include an open forum and an opportunity to participate in the conversation and provide feedback to the hiring committee. Open forum information and Zoom links for each candidate is listed below. There will also be an opportunity for you to provide feedback through a Qualtrics survey. We greatly appreciate your participation in the search process. Dr. Hal Strough: Interview date 11/10/2021

Dr. Hal Strough is Associate Dean in the Dr. Pallavi Patel College of Health Care Sciences at Nova Southeastern University Florida in Fort Lauderdale. He is also Department Chair and an Associate Professor in the Department of Health and Human Performance.  He was previously the Founding Department Chair of the Athletic Training Department at The College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minn. Prior to that he was the Founding Program Director of Athletic Training at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. He is the District 9 rep to the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Committee on Professional Ethics (COPE), Treasurer of the Alpha Eta National Honor Society (Allied Health), and Chair of the Board of Directors for National Conference of Academic Deans (NCAD).  He is a certified athletic trainer and licensed athletic trainer in Florida.

Dr. Elizabeth (Lisa) Nawrot:  Interview date 11/15/2021

Dr. Nawrot earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Carnegie Mellon University and her Master’s and Ph.D. from the University of California Berkeley. After a post-doc at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, she taught at Cornell College and NDSU, before joining MSUM in 1997. Her research in developmental science was supported by MSUM grants and alumni donations, as well as a grant from the NIH. Dozens of students were involved in this research over the years. Dr. Nawrot was the Director of the Honors Program and the Center for Engaged Learning before becoming interim Dean of CSHE in 2019.
