MSUM Counseling Services online offerings
Although you may feel distant from our MSUM community, you are not alone, and we are still here to support you and your mental health during this challenging time.
Counseling Services remains open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; however, doors will remain locked and signage will be posted.
Effective December 21, 2020, all counselors and case manager/navigator will be off due to their contracts and will return on January 11, 2021.
Although we currently are not meeting with students in person, we are providing tele-counseling appointments via Zoom for students enrolled for the fall semester.
If you have any questions or want to schedule an appointment, please email counseling-services@mnstate.edu or call 218-477-2211 rather than coming into the office.
Triage/Screening Appointments
A triage/screening appointment is the first step to accessing services. During your triage/screening, the counselor will clarify information from your intake paperwork, discuss your mental health, and will recommend a treatment plan. Recommendations may include one or more of the varied services we offer at the Counseling Services, and/or we may refer students to campus Community Outreach Center and community resources as needed.
Navigation at Counseling Services
MSUM Counseling Services has a Case Manager to work with all students to access community-based providers that are most appropriate based on your needs and insurance. This professional will also help if you don’t have insurance by identifying various service alternatives. Additionally, if there are needs beyond health care services, navigation can be provided to community resources that include but, not limited to: transportation, food, financial assistance, housing etc.
