PRSSA Nutrition Hub fundraiser

Sunday, Nov. 15 | 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. | Nutrition Hub Moorhead

The MSUM chapter of Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) is partnering with Moorhead Nutrition Hub to host an event to raise awareness and funds for cystic fibrosis (CF) research. The event will take place on November 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Nutrition Hub’s location on Main Street, Moorhead.

Tickets will be available until the day of the event for purchase from PRSSA members. Each ticket is good for one shake, tea, and aloe for the price of $10. A quarter of the proceeds will be donated to support the continuation of CF research. A variety of teas and shakes will be renamed in acknowledgment of CF research.

CF is a progressive, genetic disease that attacks young people, contributing to lung infections and limiting the ability to breathe. National awareness helps to fund medical research for this incurable disease and empower those affected by it.

“This event is a great way to promote awareness of cystic fibrosis in our community while offering students an opportunity to gain real-world experience with campaign development,” Kali Berlinger, MSUM PRSSA chapter president, said.

For COVID-19 precautions, further event details, and tickets, refer to the event page on MSUM PRSSA’s Facebook.

Cystic Fibrosis Facts:
– More than 30,000 people in the U.S. currently live with the disease.
– The majority of people, about 75 percent, receive their diagnosis by age two.
– Doctors diagnose about 1,000 new cases each year.
– In 2010, the Foundation raised $175 million- a goal thought to be impossible for a healthcare nonprofit.
– Although donations and research funds remain in the millions, public awareness of the disease and its sufferers remains quite low.
