MSUM Counseling Services appointment, resource information

MSUM Counseling Services would like to welcome new students, returning students and transfer students back to campus for this 2020-2021 academic year. This fall counseling services will look a bit different as there will be some face-to-face and some Zoom appointments in order to maintain physical distancing and to meet CDC guidelines. Counseling Services is located at the Hendrix Building, 1308 9th Ave South Moorhead (east of the Roland Dille Center for the Arts).

Counseling Services appointments and resources:

This semester Counseling Services is open for scheduled appointments Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. We also provide walk-in/crisis mental health services Monday to Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Counseling services are free and confidential for all undergraduate and graduate enrolled students. Counseling services include, but are not limited to:
• Personal growth
• Interpersonal relationships
• Grief and loss
• Self-esteem
• Anxiety
• Depression
• Eating problems/body image
• Alcohol/drug abuse referral source
• Rape and crisis counseling referral source

Counseling Services is offering two groups fall semester:

• Anxiety in this “new normal” held on Tuesdays from 3-4 p.m.
• Crafty coping Thursdays from 11 a.m. to noon

Jamie Skrove, Case Manager/Navigator provides support and resources for students. These services include referrals for telehealth, psychiatric consultation, medical treatment, medical consultation, pharmacy needs and intensive mental health treatment.

Counseling Services will be providing scavenger hunts that can be done in your home, dorm room and outside, and self-care bingo with the opportunity to win some prizes. These dates are yet to be determined so please check our website and our social media profiles that are listed below.

Counseling Services partnered with the Dean of Students Office and Graduate and Extended Learning on a free online program called Learn to Live. Learn to Live offers free online programs and tools that can help you improve your mental health. Students can take a short assessment that gives you personalized results and recommendations or check out one of our on-demand webinars.
