Tim Flakoll receives national service award
Tim Flakoll, the Provost for Tri-College University, has been awarded the national Phi Kappa Phi Dr. Ray Sylvester Distinguished Service Award.
The Ray Sylvester Distinguished Service Award honors an individual who has provided sustained, non-compensated volunteer service to others beyond the realm of academia. The award is presented to one person nationally every two years. Phi Kappa Phi cited that they were particularly impressed with his “record of statewide public service and youth mentoring.”
Flakoll was nominated for the national award by the NDSU Chapter of Phi Kappa Phi. One of the nominators wrote “despite his prestigious service as a politician and a provost, where one might be prone to put on airs, Tim remains recognized and loved by the people in his community, whether in the big city or his small hometown of Forbes. At the heart of Tim’s worthiness for this prestigious award is his kindness, his talents and willingness to share resources and mentorship, and his devotion and dedication to make time for those in need.”
The award includes a lifetime membership in the organization and a $1,000 donation to a nonprofit cause of the recipient’s choice which Flakoll plans to use for college student related causes.
