Faculty: LGBTQ Allies in the Classroom
Friday, Jan. 24 | 1 p.m. | LI 125
Join us on Friday, Jan. 24 at 1:00PM for a brown bag conversation on how to up your ally game. Learn best practices for creating inclusive classrooms for LGBTQ+ students and tips for responding to anti-LGBT behavior.
Presented by Dana Bisignani (she/her), who directs the Women’s Center and Rainbow Dragon Center, this discussion will be held in the Faculty Development Center (LI 125). This brown bag serves as a Safe Zone booster but is open to all faculty, regardless of whether they’ve previously had Safe Zone Training. Discussion will take place for about one hour, followed by time for Q&A. Faculty are invited to bring their lunch along.
According to a 2017 study, 20% of millennials identify as LGBTQIA+ and 12% identify as transgender or gender non-conforming. As society grows more accepting, these percentages will likely grow as Gen Z students come to our classrooms.
