Antibiotic Resistance Awareness and Research Day Presentations

World Antibiotic Awareness Week (Nov.18-24) is a campaign endorsed and recognized by Public Health agencies world-wide. One of the key objectives of the campaign is to improve awareness and understanding of antimicrobial resistance through effective communication, education and training.

MSUM Biosciences students participated in a semester long project in a Biosafety Level-2 Microbiology lab, in Langseth Hall, to investigate the Prevalence of Antibiotic Resistance in the Environment (PARE), which is a multi-university collaboration through Center for Translational Science Education (CTSE) at Tufts University. These students will be presenting posters on their research from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Langseth Hall’s atrium, on December 3rd, 2019.

The founding members of American Society for Microbiology (ASM) student chapter at MSUM is hosting this event, as their inaugural event of the year. ASM student chapter students will have a table upfront for antibiotic resistance awareness and a poster to introduce you to the class project. We will have:
1. Snacks
2. 6 poster presentations from 9-noon
3. 3 poster presentations from noon-3 p.m.
4. 5 poster presentations from 3-6 p.m.
5. Comment sheets on the front table for you to leave comments for the presenters.
