University Theatre presents ‘The Wolves’

Play portrays young female athletes as adolescent “warriors”

A play about a high school girls’ soccer team takes MSUM’s Gaede Stage on Feb. 20 and repeats Feb. 21, 22 and 23.

The play follows nine suburban girls as they try to navigate big questions and tiny battles of adolescence during their weekly pre-game soccer warm-ups. The New York Times reviewed the play when it premiered there in 2016:  “Girl power is atomic in The Wolves, the incandescent portrait of an indoor soccer team…The scary, exhilarating brightness of raw adolescence emanates from every scene of this uncannily assured first play by Sarah DeLappe…”

Performances start at 7:30 p.m. The Gaede Stage is located in the Roland Dille Center for the Arts. For tickets, go to mnstate.edu/tickets. Tickets are also available through the MSUM Box Office Monday through Friday from noon to 4 p.m. at 218.477.2271, or at the door before the performance.
