Percussion and Music Industry alumnus to speak to students

Shota Miyazaki, a 2017 graduate of the MSUM School of Performing Arts, will present an informative presentation: “Life After Graduation: You’re wanted somewhere outside of where you’re from!” this Friday at noon in Fox Recital Hall. Shota Miyazaki currently works as a professional percussionist, composer, educator, and clinician in Tokyo, Japan. A 2017 graduate of MSUM, Shota freelances on a wide variety of instruments ranging from classical percussion to commercial settings on the cajon, congas, drum set, and malletKAT while teaching aspiring musicians from Japan and China at the Kasame Music School. His compositions and performances are featured by Percuss.io and Rock oN JAPAN, where he has built a loyal online following. He is the first Japanese endorser of TRX Cymbals. Aside from his work as a musician, Shota is also an entrepreneur. He is CEO of MS Music Office, supporting instrument manufacturers from all over the world as a liaison between the Japanese and American markets. Admission is free.
