Guest lecturer to present ‘Getting Started as a Freelance Musician’

On Monday, Sept. 17 at 5 p.m. in Fox Recital Hall, guest artist and musician Kyle Maxwell-Doherty will present a one-hour lecture/discussion about how to enter the freelance market as a young musician. Currently on tour in Minneapolis with “Hamilton: An American Musical,” Kyle is a highly versatile freelance percussionist who began his career in New York City after completing his DMA coursework at the University of Arizona. While in NYC, he performed in a wide variety of musical settings, including annual performances of the Radio City Music Hall “Christmas Spectacular” with the Rockettes, on the field of NFL stadiums as a member of the Gallant Entertainment Drumline, on stage at Madison Square Garden, the Blue Note, and Le Poisson Rouge, premiered new compositions by Karlheinz Stockhausen and Edo Frenkel, worked as a professional dance accompanist at Julliard, the 92nd Street Y, and the New School, and performed with the Saakumu Drum and Dance Troupe in Ghana and California. Admission is free.
