Exterior door locking changes effective Fall 2018
For the safety of members of the campus community, the MSU Moorhead Facilities, Grounds & Safety Committee’s recommendation to secure academic building exterior doors at 5:00 p.m. has been approved and is being implemented this fall. Academic buildings include:
- Bridges Hall
- Center for Business
- Dille Center for the Arts
- Flora Frick Hall
- Hagen Hall
- King Hall
- Langseth Hall
- Lommen Hall
- MacLean Hall
- Murray Hall
- Weld Hall
Academic building exterior doors will open at 6:30 a.m. and lock at 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday. Exterior doors will also unlock 30 minutes prior to any event outside of these hours that is scheduled in the University scheduling system (EMS). Interior classroom doors will still open 15 minutes before class.
Employees will continue to have access to all exterior academic building doors 24/7/365 with their DragonID card. Students will have access to exterior academic building doors with their DragonID card from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily with the exception of holidays and when the University is closed. Faculty may request specific access for students beyond these hours online at https://my.mnstate.edu/PublicSafety/Login/Login?ReturnUrl=%2fPublicSafety.
If your DragonID card doesn’t grant you access where it should, please report this issue to MSUMKeys@mnstate.edu. If you require immediate access, please call Public Safety at 218.477.2449.
For your safety, please remember:
- Carry your DragonID card to ensure access to academic buildings.
- Make online space reservations in the University scheduling system (EMS) to ensure doors are unlocked and there is proper ventilation to the building and rooms. Select the “Online reservations” icon on the right-hand side of mnstate.edu/schedule.
- Close doors behind you.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation as we work to improve the security of our campus.
