Mark Applebaum to present free lecture demonstration

Friday, Feb. 2 | 12 p.m. | Fox Recital Hall

American avant-garde composer Mark Applebaum (the “ Mad Scientist of Music”), presents a free lecture demonstration Friday, Feb. 2, at noon in Fox Recital Hall in the Roland Dille Center for the Arts. As a Professor of Composition at Stanford University, Applebaum has challenged the conventional boundaries of music throughout his career as a composer, jazz pianist, and visual artist. Known world-wide through a brilliant TEDx Talk which has received over 4 million views, his compositions feature a genre-bending mixture of music, theatre, and art, from works for “mimed” gestures to his infamous Concerto for Florist and Orchestra.
