Dragons softball splits in West St. Paul, Inforum: “Freshman pitcher Tori White fired a complete game six-hitter and sophomore shortstop Taylor Roddie had four hits to help the Minnesota State University Moorhead softball team earn a 6-1 win over Minnesota Crookston in non-conference action Tuesday at West St. Paul, Minn.”

Dragons basketball teams both in position to make national tournament, Inforum: “Minnesota State Moorhead head coach Chad Walthall has been in wait-and-see mode since his team was upset last week in the first round of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference men’s basketball tournament.”

Artful Acting: MSUM Straw Hat’s 54th Season, High Plains Reader: “The Straw Hat Players at Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSUM) are preparing for their 54th season of bringing summer theatre to our area. Craig Ellingson, Director of Theatre Arts and Dance at MSUM, gave some details about the upcoming season. Ellingson is in his 19th year at MSUM.”

Gillespie named semi-finalist for Minnesota Teacher of the Year, Morris Sun Tribune: “Morris Area High School Special Ed teacher Erin Gillespie is one of 37 educators named today as semifinalists for this years’ Minnesota Teacher of the Year honor.”

MSUM alum writes best-seller about mountain man, Inforum: “While some stories are inevitably crafted from vivid imagination, others are based on real experiences written through the eyes of those who lived them. Danielle Nadler, 34, a 2005 Minnesota State University Moorhead alum with a degree in mass communications and journalism, published one of those unbelievably true stories in December.”

MSUM sees record graduate enrollment this spring, Inforum: “Enrollment of new graduate students at Minnesota State University Moorhead continues to grow with a 25 percent increase over last spring and an increase among newly entering domestic undergraduate students of 10.3 percent.”

Painting over the stigma: ‘Canvas the Change’ event hosted in DL, Detroit Lakes Online: “Five Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSUM) students are using a unique medium to fight the stigma of mental health: paint.”

Clark to continue as interim college president, Bemidji Pioneer: “The White Earth Tribal and Community College Council of Trustees has extended an agreement with Minnesota State University Moorhead to extend the contract for Tracy Clark to continue as interim college president for one more year. Clark, associate professor of social work, has been employed with MSUM for 15 years. She has a bachelor’s degree in social work from MSUM and a master’s degree from the George Warren Brown School of Social Work. She is a licensed social worker, born and raised on the White Earth Reservation and has served in a variety of community roles over the years as well as made various presentations throughout the White Earth, Detroit Lakes, Fargo and Grand Forks areas.”

Dragons double: Both men’s and women’s teams make national tournament, Inforum: “The lead-in to the NCAA Division II tournament didn’t go as hoped for the Minnesota State Moorhead men’s basketball team, getting upset in the first round of the conference tournament.”
