‘Someone like me’: For young people of color, Obama had indelible impact, Inforum: “When Jered Pigeon took in President Barack Obama’s inauguration in 2009 during a watch party with hundreds of other students at Minnesota State University Moorhead, he felt optimism in the air.”
Moorhead is largest city in Minnesota led mostly by women, WDAZ: “The presence and power of women in Moorhead city government is growing … Despite Hillary Clinton’s failed attempt to shatter what she referred to as the “highest and hardest glass ceiling,” losing her bid for the presidency, she was still the first woman nominated for president by a major party. MSUM blows past U-Mary in men’s basketball, Inforum: “Tanner Kretchman scored 18 points and dished out seven assists to help Minnesota State Moorhead past Bismarck-Mary 84-69 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference basketball on Saturday.”
Dragons sweep Minot state, women push streak to 12 games, WDAY: “After trading wins and losses in their last five games, the Dragon men’s basketball team was looking for some consistency as they visited Minot State.”
Lien’s 31 points help Dragons past Minot State, Inforum: “Aaron Lien poured in 31 points on 9 of 13 shooting from the field to help Minnesota State Moorhead past Minot State 82-74 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play on Friday, Jan. 6. DII Women’s Basketball: MSU Moorhead’s Drew Sannes has Dragons atop the NSIC, NCAA.com: “Last year, Minnesota State Moorhead enjoyed its best season since its 2008-09 campaign. Ayob scores late basket to lift Dragons to double overtime win, Inforum: “Ayob Ayob scored a reverse layup with 2 seconds remaining in double overtime to lift Minnesota State Moorhead to a dramatic 91-89 victory against Augustana on Friday, Jan. 13, in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference men’s basketball at the Sioux Falls Arena.”
Dragons women continue to roll, extend winning streak to 15 games, Inforum: “Sophomore guard Jacky Volkert scored 19 points and added four assists to lead No. 18-ranked Minnesota State Moorhead to a 74-64 victory against Wayne State on Saturday, Jan. 14, in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference women’s basketball at Rice Auditorium.”
Lien scores 32 to lead Dragons men to victory, Inforum: “Senior guard Aaron Lien scored a game-high 32 points to lead Minnesota State Moorhead to a 95-87 victory against Wayne State on Saturday, Jan. 14, in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference men’s basketball at Rice Auditorium.”
