School of Art is new name for School of Visual Arts
MSUM’s School of Visual Arts has been renamed the MSUM School of Art. The change is effective immediately and the new name is being incorporated online and in print as new materials are ordered.
The name was selected by faculty in the school after the receipt of a cease and desist letter last July from a law firm representing the School of Visual Arts in New York City. That school federally registered the School of Visual Arts name and has been using it since it 1947.
