Department of Physics and Astronomy Seminar Series Presents: Astronomy Summer Research Experiences by Erin Aadland and Andy Block

Erin Aadland spent her summer at a Notre Dame University in Indiana as part of the Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program. This program, funded by the National Science Foundation, supports thousands of students in dozens of disciplines at hundreds of universities across the U.S. Erin will discuss her summer work, which included observations of, and analysis of data from, a variable star.

Andy Block was paid to do research this summer on imaging techniques for asteroids as part of the Strong Scholars program. Andy will describe his project, the first attempt at MSUM to use a color camera for gathering data with the telescope, the progress he made, and plans for future work.
