MSUM Career Development Center taking steps to protect students

There has been an uptick in fraudulent employer activity on career center employment websites around the United States. Steps we have taken in the MSUM Career Development Center to protect our students:

  • A caution statement on the log in page of DragonJobs
  • An “avoid job scams” PDF
  • Disclosure/liability statement
  • Seeking federal tax id numbers from employers to establish legitimacy

Let students, staff, and faculty know these key facts:

  • Do not compromise your personal safety by traveling to residential locations or secluded, private, or unsecure locations
  • Protect your personal identity by not readily disclosing your social security number, credit card, or bank account numbers until you are certain of an employer’s legitimacy
  • Please view our “Avoiding Job Scams” document in the DragonJobs Resource Library
