Meghan Duda, Assistant Professor of Photography in the School of Media Arts & Design, makes directorial debut in Århus, Denmark

Last spring semester Meghan Duda’s husband and creative partner Regin Schwaen [Associate Professor of Architecture at NDSU] was invited to participate in a 50 year anniversary celebration at his alma mater, Aarhus School of Architecture. The event, titled JUBILÆUMSUDSTILLING, features 50 films by 50 architects, including alumni and other influential architects in the school’s history. It is a great honor to be chosen to exhibit among a prestigious list of architects including Daniel Libeskind, Diller & Scofidio, Enric Miralles, MVRDV, Peter Zumthor, Zaha Hadid, and Snøhetta, among others.

Duda’s film, titled Cloudhouse, features the residential renovation Regin and Meghan completed together over the course of five years in the Belmont Park neighborhood of Fargo. Designed by Schwaen as a research objective in sustainable, modern renovation practices, the process was photographed and documented by Duda. The resulting film is a 10 minute portrait of the house, focusing on moments of light and shadow and the importance of intimacy in architecture. The exhibit opened on Friday, October 2 and runs through November 15, 2015.
