Karen Mehnert-Meland to serve as Interim Public Safety Director
Karen Mehnert-Meland has agreed to serve in an interim capacity as the Public Safety Director while a search for the permanent director is conducted. She will begin her duties on Tuesday, September 8.
Karen retired from MSU Moorhead in June 2014 after nearly 36 years of service to the University. She earned two degrees from MSU Moorhead – a BA in Psychology and an MS in Counseling and Human Development with an emphasis in Student Personnel Services. After graduation, she worked for nine years in housing followed by 25 years in the student union. For the last two years before her retirement, she served as the Interim Associate Vice President for Student Affairs. Additionally, she was appointed to the City of Moorhead Police Civil Service Commission and served a three-year term that ended in 2014.
Under Karen’s leadership, the Public Safety staff will continue to provide a safe and secure environment for all that live, work, and study at MSU Moorhead. Please welcome Karen back to our campus community.
