Yolanda Lara Arauza presented at the Organization of American Historians Annual Meeting

Yolanda Lara Arauza, Department of History, Languages, Critical Race, and Women’s Studies, presented a paper at the Organization of American Historians Annual Meeting, April 16-20, in St. Louis, Missouri. Arauza’s paper, based on oral history interviews, outlined the experiences of Mexican Americans living in the shadow of the Enemy Alien Internment Camps during World War II. She also attended two workshops: Reacting to the Past (RTTP) and Making Your Classroom the Ultimate Participatory Experience. Both workshops introduced pedagogical strategies to engage students in critical thinking and active participation in the classroom, such as role-playing.
