PartnerSHIP 4 Health encourages you to comment on smoke-free campus policy
Do you know that your comments can change the smoke free policy?
The current Tobacco-Free Campus Policy prohibits the use, sale, advertising and sampling of all tobacco products on the MSUM campus. The tobacco-free campus policy promotes a respectful and healthy environment by eliminating any form of tobacco use.
However, the current policy has been reviewed by the committee and added “Smoking, tobacco and electronic cigarette use is allowed at “designated smoking areas”. This change will make the MSUM campus no longer a smoke free campus. “There is incontrovertible evidence that smoking is a dangerous addiction and that secondhand smoke affects everyone — so I would like to not promote it on our campus” said Nabiha Omar an intern at PartnerSHIP 4 Health.
We are all responsible for implementing and enforcing the Tobacco-Free policy. It is important that we all work to promote good health and support an environment free of tobacco. Therefore the policy is open for public comment so we can have a healthy environment. Please make sure to comment for a smoke-free campus: http://www.mnstate.edu/policies/underreview.aspx.
