Dr. Justin James named Director of Faculty Development
I am pleased to announce Dr. Justin James as the incoming Director of Faculty Development. Dr. James joined the MSUM faculty in 2006 and is an Associate Professor in the Mathematics Department. He has a B.S. in Mathematics and Psychology from the University of Colorado, an M.S. in Mathematics from Northern Arizona University and a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Nebraska. In addition to teaching courses within his department, Dr. James has also taught FYE and Learning Community courses. He has a strong record of professional development activities and has presented numerous workshops related to pedagogical techniques at national conferences and at MSUM’s Faculty Development Center. Dr. James has a clear vision about the role a vibrant and engaging faculty development program plays in supporting teaching excellence and ultimately, student learning.
Dr. James will begin his 3-year term as Director of Faculty Development this semester, in coordination with Dr. Alison Wallace, who will be completing the third year of her term at the end of the Fall 2015 semester. Under Dr. Wallace’s leadership, MSUM’s Faculty Development Center has quickly become a productive and vibrant focal point of faculty development activities. I know that Dr. James’ will continue to build on this excellence and I look forward to having even more #DragonPride about our faculty development program. Please join me in congratulating Dr. James and in thanking the Faculty Development Committee for their work on the search process.
