Film Studies Alumni Win Twin Cities Competition

Circa Productions, a Twin Cities-based film production company consisting of several MSUM Film alumni recently took top honors in the Minneapolis 48 Hour Horror Film Project. The winning film, Slice and Dice with Ethan was created by Ben Efron ’09, Dustin Solmonson ’09 and Rebecca Efron ’09. Theatre alumnus, Matt Englund starred in the project. In addition to taking Best Film, the Circa team also won for Best Hero, Best Character, Best Line of Dialog and the Audience Favorite Award.

Two Jackets Productions, another production company made up of Film Studies alumni, also participated in this event. Their film, All Dressed in White was nominated for Best Film and won the awards for Best Costume and Best Love Story. The filmmaking team included Andrew Neill ’10, Eric Carlson ’10, Marcus Mann ’11, Travis Mattick ’08, Megan Vaughan ’06, Dustin Riccio ’08, Mitch Miller ’11, Chelsey Green ’11, Josh Dahlman ’09, Kyle Olson ’10, Craig Larson ’11 and Theatre alums Erin Granger and Rachel Palashewski.
