On Tuesday, November 18th, the Fargo Public Library will host a presentation by Professor Steve Hoffbeck of the MSU Moorhead History Department titled “The Dust Bowl in the Northern Great Plains.” Scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 18, at 7 p.m. at the Main Library, the presentation is an illustrated talk about the drought, dust storms, and heat waves in the Upper Midwest during the 1930s. Hoffbeck has taught and written about the suffering of Midwesterners during the Great Depression and the lost tales of the era. Hoffbeck is the author of The Haymakers: A Chronicle of Five Farm Families, winner of a Minnesota Book Award; and writes regularly for the “Dakota Datebook” program on Prairie Public Radio.
