Women’s and Gender Studies Students Have a Big Presence at the 2014 Red River Women’s Studies Conference held at NDSU, October 24, 2014.

Four WGS students presented their research in a panel titled “Revolution Consciousness/Revolutionary Selves:  Feminist Methodologies and the Body. ”

  1. Chandler Essingler , senior majoring in WGS , “Body Dissatisfaction and the College-Age Woman:  Could Feminist Identity Protect Women Against Negative Body Image”
  2. Kathryn Lucero, senior, majoring in both WGS and Philosophy, “Freebleeding:  Changing the Discourse of Menstruation”
  3. Devon Payne, senior, majoring in WGS, “Ageism and Sexism,”  Intersections of Aging Women”
  4. Jennifer Seviour, previous degree, WGS minor, “Autoenthnography:  Feminist Methodology and Reflexively Queer”

Sara Rundlett,   senior, Psychology Major, WGS minor, participated in a panel on Women and Health, Rundlett presented her paper “Medicalization of Mental Health in American Youth: Pediatric Bipolar Disorder and Antipsychotic Medications”

Kathryn Lucero, senior, majoring in both WGS and Philosophy along with Claudia Murphy, WGS and Philosophy presented “Why Fracking is a Feminist Issue:  A Workshop/Discussion on Environmental Justice Issues in Western North Dakota”
