The Office of Campus Sustainability is proud to host Bethany Wenkels of Move Minnesota to engage with our campus community on the future of transportation in Minnesota.
Move MN is a growing coalition of over 200 communities, organizations, associations and businesses. We are dedicated to fixing Minnesota’s transportation problem in 2015. The full list of our members, as well as more on the campaign, can be found at www.movemn.org. Our member groups have diverse interests including environmental, equity, transit, health, bicycling, disability, and faith to name a few. The MSUM campus community aligns with many of those interests.
Bethany will offer a 30 min. presentation on Minnesota’s current transportation needs and Move MN’s vision of a solution (balanced statewide, multi-modal, gimmick free, and dedicated funds). And then have a question and answer portion of the program where students, faculty, staff, etc. could find out more about our transportation system and the campaign. Finally, we’ll wrap up by offering opportunities for action, including an explanation of how individuals and groups can become Move MN supporters and partners, and how they can be involved both in their district and at the capitol.
Currently, she’s collecting individual’s stories on transportation from people statewide that highlight why transportation matters to Everyone, and will plant to share those stories as well. Additionally, we’ll briefly discuss the results of MSUM’s Commuting Habits Survey and what it means for the future of sustainable transportation on campus.
