Presidential search update

A message from the Search Chair, Dick Hanson.

The search for MSUM’s next president is continuing on track, though as we said at the start, this is the part of the search where there isn’t a lot of information to be made public. I can tell you that applications and inquiries continue to come in to our search consultants, and the members of the search committee are anxious to begin the work of reviewing those materials.

While this is still subject to change, we anticipate the search timeline to include the review of candidates at the end of January/early February and a semi-final list of candidates who will be interviewed off-site (early March).  For now, please hold the dates of March 31, April 1 and April 2 for on-campus visits by candidates. We anticipate a presentation of the new president to the MSUM community in late April. Obviously there will be a good deal of conversation and vetting throughout the process.

Finding the best candidate to lead MSUM is of critical importance so here are two ways you can help: first, if you know of someone who might be a good candidate, share that name with me at rhanson@bemidjistate.edu and second, be involved when candidates are invited to campus. Let the candidates know that this university and community are very attractive, indeed. Candidates need to sell themselves to the search committee, but we have to sell MSUM to the candidates. We appreciate your continued interest in the MSUM Presidential Search process!
