FARGO – Timothy P. Sayler will be the new chief operating officer at Essentia Health’s West Region, overseeing operations in North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota.

Sayler, a graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead, will start here March 17. He replaces Kevin Pitzer, who left last year.

“Tim is an experienced health care leader,” Dr. Greg Glasner, president and chief executive officer of Essentia’s West Region, said Tuesday in a statement.

“I look forward to working with him to shape strategy and clinical program development to further strengthen Essentia Health as a premier, integrated health care system,” he added.

Sayler most recently has served as president and chief executive officer of the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, Idaho. Earlier he was chief operating officer of Altru Health System in Grand Forks, where he worked for 27 years.

“It’s a market I’m very familiar with,” Sayler, a native of Wishek, N.D., said of Fargo-Moorhead. “It’s an opportunity to work in that market and be close to family.”

At MSUM, Sayler earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He also has a master’s in health care administration from the University of Colorado in Denver.
