Fire Outside Of West Snarr Last Night, No Injuries
Last night there was a fire contained within the fenced-in construction site outside of West Snarr, a residence hall currently vacant while it undergoes renovation. There were no injuries, and no smoke damage was done to West, South or East Snarr. At this point, the damage appears to be only to roofing insulation.
Around 3 a.m., an RA was walking past and saw a small fire in the roofing insulation that was along the fence in the corner between the campus spine and 14th Street. She called the Area Director on Duty who called Public Safety. Students in East and South Snarr were evacuated until the fire was contained.
“The evacuation of East and South Snarr went well. This underscores the importance of taking fire drills seriously,” said Heather Phillips, Director of Housing and Residential Life.
Everyone cleared the scene by 4:30 a.m.
The Fire Department will be conducting an investigation.
