Openings still available for wills and health care directives

Do you have a health care directive (f/k/a Living Will)? Do you need a will?

Health Care Directives
The Elder Law class (Para 416), as part of an academic service learning project, is offering to draft health care directives. This service is offered FREE to MSUM faculty and staff but is limited to 12 individuals (and spouse/partner). You must be:

-a Minnesota resident
-available to meet at the CMU (Comstock Room 101) with a student on April 18, April 30 and May 7 at 9 a.m.

The meetings will be one hour long.

All of the work will be done by students and will be supervised by a licensed attorney. You will take away a professionally done health care directive that you can sign on May 7.

As an expanded offering, another paralegal class is offering to draft a free will.

Wills
The Probate and Estate Planning class (Para 405), students will be preparing free wills as a service learning project. In order to be an eligible candidate for this project, you must meet the following criteria:

-be a Minnesota resident
-be single or married
-cannot have any dependents
-the total value of all property (including retirement plans and death benefits from life insurance) cannot exceed $500,000.00
-must be willing to submit a signed confidential financial statement to Professor Jean Hannig for pre-screening

You must be willing to attend all scheduled meetings in CMU 227.

April 18, 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.
April 24, 1:30 to 2:15 review your wishes and goals for the will
May 6, 1:30 to 2:15 your document will be reviewed and signed

All of the work will be done by students and will be supervised by a licensed attorney.
