Open forums to be held for the Director of the Honors Program candidates
The Honors Program Committee would like to invite the campus community to attend two open forums next week for the Director of the Honors Program.
The first open forum will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 26, at 10:30 a.m. in CMU 101 for Oscar Flores. Dr. Flores has served as the Interim Director of the Honors Program since the summer of 2011. He began his employment with MSUM in 1989, and has been an Associate Professor in both the Economics and Multicultural Studies departments. Dr. Flores has been a Professor in the Economics department since 2001 and served as Department Chair from 1999-2008. He has served on many university committees including the Task Force on Student Graduation and Retention Rate Improvement (served as chair), the Strategic Planning Task Force, the Vision Task Force, and currently serves as co-chair of the Strategic Enrollment and Retention Committee. Dr. Flores is a member of the Missouri Valley Economics Association and has served as President, Vice President and Director; he is also the Associate Editor of the Undergraduate Economic Review. Dr. Flores received his PhD in Economics from the University of Cincinnati.
The second open forum will be held on Thursday, Feb. 28, at 10:30 a.m. in CMU 101 for Elizabeth Nawrot. Dr. Nawrot has been a Professor in the Psychology department at MSUM since 1997. Prior to this time, she served as an Assistant Professor in Psychology at North Dakota State University in Fargo and at Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, Iowa. Dr. Nawrot has served on many university committees including the Institution Review Board, Family Studies Task Force, the Self Study for Reaccreditation team, Tri-College Women United Committee and various committees within the Psychology Department. She has received the Academic Affairs Award for Excellence in Research and for Excellence in Service to the University, the Dille Fund for Excellence Award and was the recipient of the National Institutes for Health AREA grant. Dr. Nawrot received her PhD in Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley.
