“Cleaning Lady” Picks Up Jury Award at SD Fest

Film Studies professor Tom Brandau’s film The Cleaning Lady received a Jury Award at this year’s South Dakota Film Festival. A dramatic short which deals with the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. , the film was produced last summer with the help of several current and recently graduated Film students including  Amber Johnson (Cinematographer), Ben Efron (Editor) Kate Enge (Asst. Director) and Michael Schreifels (Location Sound). The title role was played by  Theatre Arts graduate Joy Dolo. Brandau wrote and directed the project which was produced by Janet Haak (Dir. Of Study Abroad). The film has already played at several film festivals across the U.S. and is scheduled to screen this October at the Louisville International Festival of Films, Show Me Justice Film Fest. (Kansas City, Mo) and the JC PowerHouse Short Film Fest. (Jersey City, NJ).
