Richard Adler is 1st speech pathologist appointed to world association

Richard Adler, Speech Language and Hearing Science, was appointed to the committee that will oversee the writing of the 7th Edition of the Standards of Care (SOC-7) from the World Professional Association for Transgender Health. He is the first speech pathologist ever appointed to this committee for all previous editions of the SOCs. He worked with colleagues in the U.K., Australia, British Columbia, Canada, U.S., and South Africa to write the section on Voice and Communication therapy in the standards. There has never been recognition of this section in previous standards of care so this is the first time that the profession of voice and speech therapists will be recognized internationally.
