Physics/Astronomy seminar on wind farm selection Nov. 19

The Physics and Astronomy Seminar Series presents a senior project talk by Devin Kasper on “MCP-Based Wind Farm Site Selection Using Variance Ratio Algorithm” at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19 in Hagen Hall 325.

Wind companies, private investors, etc. need the ability to predict wind speed at a given location with limited wind speed data. The Measure-Correlate-Predict (MCP) method is one approach to obtaining wind speed data from limited observations. This project followed the MCP approach using the Variance Ratio for correlation and prediction of wind speed data and tested the accuracy of that correlation algorithm.
