Emergency Evacuation Drills

MSUM will be conducting emergency evacuation drills in all campus buildings, except residence halls, on Wednesday, August 25 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Please take this opportunity to review the emergency plans posted throughout the buildings.

Some things to remember when you hear the building evacuation alarm:

1. Do not use elevators. Those with mobility impairments should wait in the building’s designated safe area of rescue until the alarm stops and occupants are given the all clear to re-enter.

2. If practical, take your jacket, purse and keys with you.

3. Close doors and windows when you exit.

4. Stop, look, and listen. Evacuation alarms are used to notify building occupants during other kinds of emergencies besides fires.

5. Remember to use alternative evacuation routes besides main entrances. This will relieve congestion in stairwells and hallways.

If anyone needs assistance in determining safe areas of rescue or have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
