New light detecting and ranging websites launched

The International Water Institute has recently completed a LiDAR mapping project for the entire U.S. portion of the Red River Basin. Red River Basin residents can download and access this information at two newly developed websites through the Red River Basin Decision Information Network: www.rrbdin.org

“The main objective of the $5.0 million Red River Basin Mapping Initiative was to make highly accurate elevation data available to the general public (http://www.internationalwaterinstitute.org/lidar.htm). We feel these new websites will greatly enhance flood forecasting accuracy and allow officials to make more informed and defendable water resources management decisions.” says Chuck Fritz, Director of the International Water Institute.
