Discovery Camp this week at MSUM
MSUM is working with the Center for College Readiness to provide a Summer Discovery Camp for students completing the 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th grades held this week, June 14 – 18, on the MSUM campus. Many full scholarships have been given to students who attend one of these College Readiness schools in Minnesota including Perham, New York Mills, Lake Park/ Audubon, or Moorhead. Local students also have the option of being day campers for the week.
Students attending have the opportunity to investigate aquatic creatures in area rivers and ponds, to observe and video capture plants growing or bug transforming, or to explore new ways of getting energy to power our planet. They will participate in fun, hands-on activities, such as field trips, tie-dying, and launching rockets. The camp is coordinated by faculty of the College of Social and Natural Sciences. Groups will be taught by Richard Lahti, Andrew Marry, Bee Wisenden, Alison Wallace, and Steve Lindaas all faculty members at MSUM. Shawn Ellingboe is coordinating housing and evening activities for the residential students staying in the residence hall. MSUM science and math students will serve as teaching and resident assistants.
